So I got the Belding Area Schools newsletter in the mail today and although I didn't really need to look through it because I've got a while until Lauryn will be in school, I glanced through it anyway. There was a section that I found a little bit disturbing. It was the "Elementary Dress Code." Now I completely understand why they have dress codes but some of the things listed kind of shocked me. Here are just a few things:
*Shirts that promote a bare mid-riff or any tops that promote a less-than-modest image are prohibited (examples: halter tops, tube tops).
*See-through or revealing clothing is prohibited.
*High-heeled shoes and flip-flops are prohibited for safety reasons.
*Students may not have pierced body parts, other than ears, inappropriate tattoos, bright unnatural hair color (bright red, yellow, green, blue, etc.)
So as I mentioned, I get why they have dress codes but my question is, what on earth are parents doing these days that they would have to have these in their list for ELEMENTARY students??? I just found it really bizarre. I guess when Lauryn is old enough for kindergarten, I can't send her in a tube top and see-through mini skirt with 6" heels on and tattoos. Damn!
You mean it wont be like mother like daughter? ROFLMAO! Isn't it stupid that it has come down to this. But I think it's all because the few ruin it for the mass. Take a look around next time at the kids and pay close attention. You will see all kinds of crap that they dress in and I can see why. Some of them I've thought if you were my child you would be grounded for life :)
ReplyDeleteLike mother like daughter my...foot! LOL I was telling my husband that if that's what the kids are wearing to "be cool" then Lauryn will NEVER fit it!
ReplyDeleteWow that is crazy!!
ReplyDeleteThats a shame you can't send her to her first day in kindergarten like that hehehe.
Going through your blog and seen this. I'm just curious....do you have her tube top and mini skirt bought yet?? ;)
ReplyDeleteCheryl ~ Nope, haven't started school shopping....yet! Haha!!!
