Simplifying

Everytime I open a cupboard or drawer in my house, I realize that I really need to go through each room and get rid of the things we never need.  The kitchen is the worst.  We have a ton of cupboards and no room for anything because they are filled with things I never use.  I plan on simplifying.  If I haven't used it in a year, why I am I holding on to it?  I need to do this in our linen closet, my closet and in the guest/craft room in the basement.  I have clothes in my closet that haven't been worn in years and yet I can't seem to let them go.  I have a box of random items I've held on to over the years and they really have no meaning to me, just stuff I hang on to.  There are a lot of things I plan on donating but I think I'll try to get rid of the rest in a yard sale in the spring.  I also want to sell silver coins online.  I want this house to be organized!  It's gotten ridiculous, the amount of completely unused things we have, and I'm ready to get this  house in order.
