SeattleWelcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!
1) Let's get the obvious out of the way: Have you ever been to Seattle?
No.
2) Businessweek named Seattle one of the best places to live, citing its clean air, low crime and high employment. What makes your current hometown a great place to live?
I grew up here. It's a small town and everyone knows everyone, which can be irritating, but the town comes together during the rare crisis.
3) In this song, Bobby brags about how green Seattle is. Is it still green where you are? Or are the trees beginning to show their fall colors?

It's mostly green but the colors are slowly starting to change. Our neighbor, across the street, has a tree out front that's half green and half red, split down the middle. :)
4) This song was the theme of a 1968-1970 show called Here Come the Brides. Do you know the words to any other TV theme?

Lots of them. Probably more than a person should know.
5) Bobby Sherman was once America's #1 teen idol, selling millions of records and earning 5 Gold Albums. Girls who wrote to his fan club received a postcard back signed, "Peace, Love & Bobby Sherman." Have you ever belonged to a fan club?
No.
6) Alas, the career of a teen idol can be short, and by fall 1970, Bobby was replaced on magazine covers by David Cassidy. Sherman went on to a second career with the LAPD, instructing officers in CPR and first aid. Do you know how to perform CPR? The Heimlich Maneuver?

Yes and yes. When I was pregnant with my son, I had to give my daughter the Heimlich maneuver when she was choking on a sucker :( It was so incredibly scary but I was glad I knew what to do and didn't panic.
7) The "disc" you see shown is actually made of cardboard and was printed on the back of a Post Alpha-Bits cereal box. It was one of four that Post printed on different cereals back in 1970 so that Bobby-loving little girls would have to go through lots of different cereals to collect the whole set. What's your favorite breakfast cereal?
Honey Nut Cheerios
8) Crazy Sam can't decide if she wants berries or banana slices with her cereal. Which would be your choice?

Bananas
9) Do you ever eat cereal straight out of the box? Drink milk directly from the carton?

I have eaten cereal from the box, when getting a bowl for my kids, but drinking from the milk carton is a major no-no. I have weird issues with dairy. I can't eat or drink from anything dairy that someone else has had their mouth on. I don't know why but it has always grossed me out.
It's wonderful that you were prepared and ready when your daughter needed you!
ReplyDeleteI live by small towns and it is very much like you describe. When a farmer dies or gets sick, all the other farmers pitch in to help harvest the crops.
ReplyDeleteThe Gal Herself ~ I'm pretty good in those situations....then I fall apart when it's over.
ReplyDeleteHarriet ~ That's awesome!
