W.T.F. meme *Wednesday*

Writing sketch comedies and novels about impersonators

1) With National Plan Your Epitaph Day being celebrated this week, what would you like to have written on your gravestone?
I guess just the usual....Wife, mother, etc.
2) This week, some churches and dentists across the U.S. "bought back" unwanted Halloween candy, many of them sending the candy purchased overseas to deployed soldiers. What would you do with candy you were given that you didn't want?
Set it out for company :)
3) What do you do with mail that comes to your home addressed to past residents (forward it, trash it, open it, line your bird's cage with it, etc.)?
Write on it that the person no longer lives here and put it back in the mail box.
4) November is National Novel Writing Month, and thousands of writers will try to start and complete an entire novel by Nov. 31. If you were to write a book this month, what would the topic be?
My life with my husband and daughter.
5) Last week Fox announced that an updated version of its 1990-94 sketch comedy show "In Living Color" will be created and will air this spring. What do you think of sketch comedy?
It can be funny....I loved "In Living Color" when I was a kid :)

6) If you were on a trip to Los Angeles and took a walk down Hollywood Boulevard, would you want to have your photo taken with any of the impersonators who patrol the street? (The impersonators include people dressed up as real people like Elvis, Marilyn Monroe and Lady Gaga and as fictional characters from comic books, movies/TV shows, and cartoons.)
Sure, why not? :)

7) Do you have nicknames for any of your neighbors which you use to describe them to other people?
Not really.  We just moved to this neighborhood a few days ago and don't know any of the neighbors well.  We didn't have any nicknames for our previous neighbors.
8) Speaking of your neighbors... have any of your neighbors ever witnessed you doing something embarrassing (or vice versa)?
Not that I know of and I can't say I've seen the neighbors doing anything embarrassing.

W.T.F. meme *Wednesday*

Once upon a time, the McRib howled at the moon

1) The "Test your vocab" website (click here to test it out and share your results if you want) estimates the number of words in your vocabulary based on how many specific words you know the definition of. Have you ever read a dictionary to increase your vocabulary?
No.
2) Today (Oct. 26) is "Howl at the Moon Day." How often do dogs wake you up in the middle of the night either barking or howling?
Never.

3) My fiance got roped into carving a pumpkin (mostly against his will) for his office due to his artistic ability. Have you carved (or will you be carving) a pumpkin this week for Halloween?

I don't think so this year.  We're in the middle of moving and I haven't gotten around to it yet so it probably won't happen.
4) If adults went trick-or-treating, what type of candy would you want to receive the most of?
Gummi Bears...lately I just can't get enough of them.
5) What do you think of the parents of celebrities (like Lindsay Lohan's mother Dina) writing tell-all memoirs about their families?
I don't think about it at all.

6) ABC premiered its highly promoted show "Once Upon A Time" on Sunday. If you could live in a fairy tale for 24 hours, which one would you pick?
Sleeping Beauty.  I haven't slept well in a couple of weeks and sleeping for 100 years sounds pretty darn awesome right now!
7) Earlier this week, McDonalds announced that its McRib sandwich, a boneless barbecue pork sandwich which has a massive cult following, is back through Nov. 14. (Personally, I'm not sure why people are so crazy for it.) What about you -- are you a McRib fan?
I've never had one.
8) What animal, besides humans, do you think would make the best world leaders?
Butterflies.....why not? :)

W.T.F. meme *Thursday*

Exotic animals in black wedding dresses create a stink

1) With today (Oct. 20) being "Shampoo Day," I'm curious... Do you actually "rinse and repeat" or just rinse without repeating?
I rinse and move on.
2) The 2011 World Series kicked off Wednesday with the St. Louis Cardinals beating the Texas Rangers. If you went a baseball game today, what would you buy from the concession stands?
Nachos and a pop.
3) October is National Squirrel Awareness Month. Do you find squirrels to be cute animals, annoying pests, or something in between?
Cute when they're outside, not so cute when the dog and cat have teamed up to corner one INSIDE the house!

4) On Tuesday, tigers, lions and bears were let loose in Zanesville, Ohio, by their owner before he committed suicide, leading to a hunt in which 49 of the animals, including 18 endangered Bengal tigers, were killed. How would you react if you saw "Caution exotic animals. Stay in your vehicle" being displayed on a road sign?
I'd probably want to turn around and make sure I read that right!
5) Researchers from University College London has published the results of a study on Facebook's effect on the brain. They say the size of some parts of the brain correlate to how many friends people have on Facebook. How do you feel about the effect of today's social media on your brain?
I don't put to much thought into what's it's doing to my brain.  I'm just happy for a quick easy way to stay in touch :)
6) The authors of that study also said that the people studied with the biggest Facebook friends list tended to have the most "real world" friends. How does the amount of your "real world" friends compare to the friends you have solely over the Internet?
I have more "real world" friends on my list.  I don't accept any friend requests from people I don't know.

7) For her Fall 2012 clothing line, Vera Wang has created a bunch of black wedding dresses. What would you think if you went to a wedding and the bride surprised everyone by wearing a fully black dress?
To each his own.  It would definitely be unconventional but it's the bride's day, she can do whatever she wants.
8) My fiance and I had to remove two dead mice from behind my couch this week. Talk about a disgusting stench. What has been the worst odor you remember smelling recently?
Dog farts!  My dog eats the same food every day, yet she has the nastiest farts sometimes.  They can clear a room in a hurry!

W.T.F meme *Thursday*

Trapping a bunch of snakes on hidden camera

1) How did your education prepared you for your current career? Do you wish you had taken a different path academically?
I'm a stay-at-home mom.  I think my last job prepared me for this more than anything.  I worked in a group home, taking care of people with disabilities.  I had to do things I didn't even know I could handle!  In my list of rewarding jobs though, that ones comes second to being a SAHM :)
2) If you could pick the two major candidates for the next presidential race (politicians, celebrities, people you personally know, etc.), who would we see running?  I honestly don't know.

3) Do you prefer to be behind the camera or in front of it?
Behind it.
4) What is one simple indulgence you could never live without?
Creme Brulee creamer for my coffee :)
5) If you were trapped in a pit full of snakes, and you could call one person to save you, who would that be?
My brother.
6) Joy Engel at HowAboutWe.com recently wrote about the eight worst things ever said to her on a date (read it here). She includes "I really like Nickelback" and "Star Wars is overrated" on the list. What's the worst thing someone's ever said to you on a date?
When I was a teenager, I was dating a guy who was tall and pretty skinny.  We were sitting next to each other and he says, "Wow, your legs are wider than mine."  Mind you, I didn't have any issues with weight back then, I just wasn't scrawny.  Dumbass!
7) Should a marriage license have a renewal date or expiration date, like a driver’s license?
At first I thought this question was funny but I thought about it for a minute and I know people who probably wouldn't renew their marriage license if they had the choice.  I personally wouldn't want that but I know a few people who would take advantage of that!
8) Where would you like to place a hidden camera?
I would put them all over my house when we are going to be away all day.  My dog is pretty good but sometimes when we get home, we find she's eaten something she wasn't supposed to and I'd really love to see how she goes about it.

W.T.F. meme *Wednesday*

It's my birthday & I'll ask stupid questions if I want to

1) Today (Sept. 28) is National Ask A Stupid Question Day. What is the stupidest question you've been asked lately? (Feel free to include one of my meme questions if you so choose. I can handle it.)
When someone finds out that I'm a stay-at-home mom and the first thing they think to say is, "What do you do all day?"  To me that's stupid!  I do all kinds of things.  Just because I no longer hold a full time job outside of the home, doesn't mean my life is uneventful and I sit around all day.
2) When someone says "We need to talk" to you, what is usually the first thing that runs through your mind?
Ugh!
3) If someone rearranged your living room, what is the first thing you would look for?
I don't think our living can be rearranged.  There are too many doorways so the couch, tv, rocking chair, etc. all have to be where they are :(

4) With my birthday this week, I received many emails from various companies offering me free food or other free little gifts. (Click here if you want a list of some freebies you can get.) What's something you'd love to get free for your birthday?
There are lots of things I'd love to get free for my birthday but dinner is usually all I get :)
5) You have a minor car wreck and are not injured, but a lawyer says you can sue because it was the other person's fault. Do you sue?
No.  It drives me nuts when people sue for everything.  If I'm not hurt, there's no reason to sue and I'd just move on.
6) A cracked.com writer recently wrote an article listing "5 ways you know it's time to get married." What advice would you give someone wondering if he/she was ready to get married?
This probably sounds like common sense but seriously, if you have any doubts, don't do it!

7) Now that it is officially autumn, what is your favorite color of fall leaf?
Orange.
8) Do you remember ever raking up leaves and jumping into a pile of them?
Oh yeah!
9) In general, do you find yourself more attracted to people with similar or different interests, life experiences, political beliefs, and religious backgrounds?
That doesn't matter to me.
10) What works best for you on a sad day?
Loud, upbeat music!

Stealing hotel items after traveling into the future

1) Cell phones owned by actresses Scarlett Johansson and Mila Kunis were recently hacked, and photos contained on them were leaked to the public. What would you be most afraid of if your phone ever got hacked?
I don't have anything to hide.  I'd be most afraid that some creep was looking at pictures of my daughter.
2) Autumn begins today (Sept. 23). In one word, describe how autumn makes you feel.
Happy.

3) When you stay in a hotel, do you steal the towels, slippers, soap, shampoo, and/or anything else in the room?
I've only stayed in hotels twice and I didn't take anything.
4) The vending machines at my office have started dispensing gold dollar coins instead of just giving you back a dollar bill or quarters. This has annoyed some people. How do you feel about receiving the dollar coins opposed to dollar bills?
I wouldn't be crazy about it but it still spends.
5) Listeria-tainted cantaloupes were shipped to at least 22 states in the U.S. and led to an outbreak that has killed at least eight people. Has this stopped you from consuming cantaloupe?
Yikes!  I didn't know about this....I've been eating cantaloupe a lot lately!

6) A pair of the ruby slippers worn on-screen by Judy Garland in "The Wizard of Oz" will be auctioned off on Dec. 16. What is a piece of movie history that you'd love to own?
This dress that Kate Winslet wore in "Titanic"  I LOVE it!

7) I recently overheard a grocery store cashier ask a kid, "What is your favorite monster?" The boy answered "Spiderman." With Halloween approaching, I want to know what your favorite monster is (and I mean a "real" monster, not a superhero like Spiderman).
I'm going with the Cookie Monster :)  He's a real monster....it's in his name :)
8) European researchers said they clocked a subatomic particle going faster than the speed of light, which contradicts Einstein's theory of relativity. This led my coworkers to partake in a conversation about it meaning that one day time travel may one day be possible. If you could travel through time, what time period would you go to and why?
Most of the people in my life would say the '60's but I would like to visit the '20's.  As for "why" I think that would just be a very interesting time to visit....and I'd want to go back as a flapper!

W.T.F. meme *Wednesday*

Dear diary, I named an elephant today...

1) Next week is my 30th birthday, but I'm boycotting it because I am not ready to leave my 20's behind. What has been the toughest birthday for you so far?
30 was tough for me too!  Mostly because there was one thing I wanted to be done with by then and it's not done yet.
2) In general, what is your favorite ride at an amusement park?
The swings.  I can't wait until Lauryn is big enough to go on them with me :)

3) Recently the Oklahoma City Zoo held a contest to name its newest elephant baby. With today (Sept. 22) being Elephant Appreciation Day, what would you name an elephant if you could name one?
I would name the elephant above "Crazy Eyes"
4) On Sept. 22, 1920, the Band-Aid was invented. What is something you wish you could cover up with a Band-Aid?
Mistakes I've made in the past!
5) Other than gasoline, what do you frequently purchase at a gas station?
I don't really buy anything else at a gas station.
6) If you had to eat only three different foods for the rest of your life, what would they be?

Tacos w/guacamole, Spaghetti & meatballs, Steak w/ baked potatoes :)  Can't just go with food...had to make it meals :)

7) Today (Sept. 22) is Dear Diary Day. Finish this sentence: "Dear Diary, I wish I knew ..."
How to use my sewing machine!
8) Would you rather have children and make a decent salary or have no kids and make a great salary?
This one's easy.  Have children and make a decent salary.  I'm a SAHM and since I no longer work outside the home, we don't have some of the extras that other people have.  It's how we wanted it and what we planned for :)

Googling guinea pig clothing as the toys take over

1) On Twitter, I saw someone say they Googled "Google" the other day. That sounds like a really stupid Google search to me. What was the last thing you Googled?
I can't say.  I was looking up prices of something I want to get for my husband for our anniversary.
2) What is something you should never say to a woman on her birthday?
Damn, you're old!
3) While walking through PetSmart this week, I noticed clothing for guinea pigs. What is the most ridiculous thing you've seen recently in a store?
I don't pay a lot of attention to things when I'm shopping.  Basically, I go in, I get what I need and I'm out.

4) One of the Food Network's popular shows is titled "Chopped." Chefs have to create meals from a basket of mystery items. If you were a contestant and got a basket with chicken breasts, Fruit Loops cereal, cheddar cheese, and vodka, what type of dish would you try to create?
It would probably be awful but I'd go for fruit loop crusted chicken breasts with a cheddar cheese vodka sauce.  I LOVE that show!
5) If your favorite pair of shoes suddenly could talk, would you still wear them?
That would probably freak me out a little.
6) The National Toy Hall of Fame has announced its finalists for induction this year (Dollhouse, Dungeons & Dragons, Hot Wheels, Jenga, Pogo Stick, Puppet, R/C Vehicles, Rubik’s Cube, Simon, Star Wars Action Figures, Transformers, and Twister). Only two will make it into the hall of fame. Which two would you induct?
The pogo stick and Rubik's Cube.

7) Speaking of toys, today (Sept. 16) is National Play Doh Day. Is there any toy from when you were a kid that you miss getting to play with?

I don't really miss playing with toys.  I do, however, still like to color occasionally :)

8) Last toy question, I promise... Due to the federal government’s ban on the incandescent light bulb, Hasbro's Easy Bake Oven had to be remodeled. Did you ever eat food cooked in an Easy Bake Oven?
Nope.

Dipping your company gift in the fair's chocolate fountain

1) I recently received a gift from my employer for making it through five years of employment. It was a stupid pin and keychain. What would you want your employer to give you for a five-year gift?  I'm a stay-at-home mom....I would like a day of peace and quiet :)

2) The fall season of television is starting. What show are you excited to have return or what new show are you excited to make its first premiere?
NCIS and Dexter!!!

3) One of my favorite restaurants recently added a chocolate fountain. What would be your favorite thing to dip into the chocolate?
I'm not too adventurous with food...I'd stick with fruit.
4)  I've bought more things on eBay in the last couple months than ever before. What is the last thing you bought over the internet?
A dehydrator and "the Dehydrator bible."  I have bananas and strawberry-banana fruit roll-ups drying right now :)
5) If you come across a homeless person on a street, do you give him or her money?
I try not to because if I do it for one, I feel like I have to always do it.  Then I'd be broke and on the street right next to them.
6) If you knew you were about to die and had the opportunity to write your own obituary, what is something you'd want to make sure is included?
Ick!  I don't even want to think about that!

7) State fair season is in full swing across the U.S. What is your favorite thing to do at a fair?
Go on rides with my daughter, eat junk and I HAVE to get a fresh squeezed lemonade.
8) By some weird twist of fate, you wake up as another person one morning and must carry on with his or her life. What do you miss most about the person you were before?  Being a SAHM gives me a lot of freedom to go where I want, when I want.  I'd miss that!

Swapping lives with an annoying pitchman on Donut Day

1) On a airplane, would you prefer to sit in an aisle seat or a window seat? Why?  Window seat.  I like to look out at the clouds and everything below.

2) Today (Sept. 14) is National Cream-filled Donut Day. What is your favorite type of donut?  A good old long john.  With custard filling and chocolate frosting...YUM!

3) What are the four most important things children should learn in school?  I'm going to go with math, English, science and history.  My first thought was to say sharing and being respectful but that's what I'm trying to teach my daughter before she starts school.

4) On Tuesday, The CW premiered its new TV show "Ringer" and ABC Family has its new show "The Lying Game." Both shows are about identical twins who switch places. If you had a twin, would you ever swap lives with him/her?  Probably not.

5) Yesterday (Sept. 13) was Fortune Cookie Day. If you could write your own fortune cookie, would would it say?  It will get better!

I'm going with Vince - the ShamWow and SlapChop guy from the picture above.
7) A new study says over 40 percent of people suffering from symptoms of depression won't discuss it with their doctors due to fear of being put on antidepressants. Do you tell your doctor about all your health problems?
I try to so I can be properly diagnosed.  I don't go to the doctor very often though.
8) One of my boyfriend's friends randomly had a child come up to her in a store and ask her where she buys her underwear. What is the weirdest question you've been asked by a child?
My daughter fell on her butt pretty hard and asked while crying her eyes out, "Mama, will you kiss my butt?"  I couldn't help but laugh!  Mama's kisses make everything better but Lauryn's questions make Mama smile :)

Dogs on surf boards join a Facebook status chain

1) Last week women on Facebook started another one of those supposed "raise breast cancer awareness" status chains which end up just confusing men. This one had me saying "I'm 14 weeks and craving Skittles." Instantly people started asking me if I was pregnant. This has angered some people (including a blogger who posted a rant about it because she says that "pretending you're pregnant isn't cute"). What do you think of status chains like this?
I think they're kind of fun.  I didn't participate in this one though because I thought it would really confuse people.  I had a miscarriage in July and posting 16 wks and craving Hershey kisses just didn't seem like a good idea.

2) Do you think people should be able to buy music and share it with everyone he or she wants or should everyone have to purchase the songs themselves?
I buy songs online and I don't mind sharing them with my husband, mom and a few close friends but I wouldn't want to do it for everyone.
3) How often do you (or your significant other) vacuum your house?
I vacuum daily.  I have a big, hairy dog who is shedding like crazy!  She has black fur and I have light carpet.  I can't stand seeing her hair all over the floor.
4) Monday was National Cheese Pizza Day. What toppings do you like on your pizza?
Ham and pepperoni....I like it simple.
5) The Thought Catalog has posted a list of great songs to cry to. What is a song that can easily bring you to tears?
"She's Somebody's Hero" by Jamie O'Neal tends to make me misty eyed :)
6) Beanie babies were a big craze in the 1990s. What is a toy that you collect or used to collect?
I collected Troll dolls when I was a kid.

7) Buddy, a 14-year-old Jack Russell Terrier, will be the first animal inducted into the Surf Dog Hall of Fame. Do you enjoy seeing animals do crazy stunts?
I guess I don't mind them.
8) September is Fall Hat Month. Do you like to wear hats? If so, what type of hats are your favorites?
I don't wear hats.  They don't look good on me.

W.T.F. meme *Wednesday*

Be sure to load your dishwasher before going to Heaven

1) September, a.k.a. National Coupon Month, begins tomorrow. Do you ever use coupons when you go shopping?
Only if it's a really good discount.
2) What topics do you usually think about on your drive home from work?
I'm a SAHM, there is no drive to work. :)
3) According to the calendar on my wall, it's still June because I never changed it to July or to August. Do you still use traditional calendars (or daily planners) or have you digitized your life into some sort of digital-based calendar?
I still have a regular calendar on my fridge.  Occasionally, I'll put appointments in my phone but mostly I just stick to the one of the fridge.

4) What do you hope is in your "welcome basket" when you get to Heaven (assuming you'll be going to Heaven *** insert evil laugh ***)?
Captain and Coke :)
5) Today (Aug. 31) is National Trail Mix Day. If you were to create your own type of trail mix, what would be included in it?
Chex, pretzel sticks, Raisinettes, dried fruit (bananas & pineapple).
6) Today is also Eat Outside Day. Do you enjoy going on outdoor picnics?
Yes.
7) Do you have a specific way to load your dishwasher? If so, if someone else loads it for you and does it a different way, do you get upset?
Sadly, we don't have a dishwasher.

10) Which of your five senses normally evokes the strongest memories in you?
Sight or sound.

Burger King's mascot and the mankini just aren't normal

1) The 12th edition of the Concise Oxford English Dictionary, published this month, has 400 new entries including the words sexting, cyberbullying, jeggings, and mankini. If you could create your own word to add to the dictionary, what would it be and what would its definition be?

2) Summer's Eve, the company that sells feminine cleansing products, has a new advertising campaign that promotes the vagina as all-powerful, the cradle of life, the center of civilization, and the thing men battle over. "Hail to the V," the company says. What is your reaction to this ad campaign?

It couldn't be more true!  :)

3) Burger King announced last week that it was retiring its mascot who peeped into windows and popped up next to people in bed in commercials. Some people found the king creepy. What did you think?
He was kind of funny but my husband and I commented on how creepy he was whenever we saw one of those commercials.
4) The people in the Burger King commercials were happy when the king showed up with breakfast. How would you react to him showing up at your house?
I'd probably scream, tell my daughter to hide and look for something heavy to hit him with! :)
5)  Actor Jim Carrey posted a video love letter to actress Emma Stone on his blog this week. If you were to post a love letter to a celebrity (whether it's serious or a joke), who would you write it to?
Shemar Moore :)  YUM!
6) Jim Carrey is 49, and Emma Stone is only 23. How big can an age difference between a couple be before it becomes too creepy?
I never thought the 5 years between my husband  and I were such a big deal but when you start talking about "when he was starting college, I was starting high school" and things like that, then it sounds creepy.
7) Hurricane Irene is wreaking havoc on the East coast. How would you feel if a hurricane shared the same name as you?
Flattered!  Sounds crazy but if I heard of a "Hurricane Carielle"  I'd think it was kind of cool since it's not a common name!  I'd feel awful that my namesake was wreaking so much havoc though.

8) What is your definition of "normal?" (I will let you choose what type of "normal" you post about.)
I don't think there is a "normal."
9) An Associated Press movie critic has listed her five favorite high school comedy movies -- "Fast Times at Ridgemont High," "Rushmore," "Sixteen Candles," "Election," and "Heathers." What is your favorite movie about life in high school?
Can't pick just one:  The Breakfast Club, Dazed and Confused,  Never Been Kissed, 10 Things I Hate About You and Varsity Blues

10) This weekend the comedy "Our Idiot Brother" opens in movie theaters across the United States. Have you ever had to help a relative out of an idiotic situation?

Sure, who hasn't? :)
