Catching Up

It's been a little bit since I've sat down and done a post.  We've had a busy couple of weeks and it's time to play catch up!  Two weekends ago, Lloyd and I decided to celebrate our 10th anniversary a little early by spending the weekend in Chicago.  We hadn't gone on a vacation, just the two of us, since our honeymoon!  His mom came early Friday morning and stayed until Saturday afternoon and my mom came Saturday afternoon and stayed until we got home on Sunday.  We had a wonderful time and it was a much needed getaway.  Some highlights of the weekend were the shopping, the Field Museum, The Emerald Loop restaurant, our fancy date night at Ruth's Chris, the dueling pianos bar, Howl at the Moon, and our hotel room, which had an awesome window seat hat was big enough for us both to lay in and look over the city.

Last week was busy with getting ready for Halloween, a costume party and Lauryn's birthday.  On Friday, Lucas and I went to Lauryns school and watched the costume parade.  It was a lot of fun and we loved seeing all of the different costumes.  Later that afternoon we had friends and family over for trick or treating and a get together/anniversary party.  It was a fantastic night!  Yummy food, tasty drinks and lots of laughs with great people.  Saturday night, we went to the costume party at Candlestone with our friends, Cheryl and Alan.  We were dressed as Flo from Progressive and Mayhem from Allstate and they were Alice in Wonderland and the Mad Hatter.  It was another super fun night!  Those two are a blast to hang out with and there's never a dull moment! ;)  Sunday was Lauryn's 6th birthday.  We decided to keep it low-key this year and have dinner, presents, cake and ice cream with our moms and this coming Saturday the four of us are going to have lunch and play games at Chuck E. Cheese's.  Lauryn requested spaghetti and meatballs for dinner, strawberry cake with strawberry frosting and Neapolitan ice cream.  She got a lot of nice presents and it was a very special day for her.

I think sums up our last couple of weekends pretty well.  I'll add a couple of posts soon with the recipes for the seven layer dip, crock pot hot cocoa, and the caramel apple sangria we had on Halloween night.  They all were a hit! :)  I've been having trouble getting my pictures downloaded too so I'll post them once I get the kinks worked out. :)

What A Great Day!

Today has been the best day!  For starters, it's mine and Lloyd's eighth anniversary!  We started the day by going with Lauryn to her school and watching her and her classmates do a parade with their Halloween costumes.  Then we were surprised to see them all sing a few songs together.  It was adorable!

After that, Lloyd headed to work and Lucas and I headed to Greenville to get gifts and party supplies for Lauryn's birthday.  We got back into town just in time to pick up Lauryn and then we headed home.  I wanted to do some major cleaning since we're having friends over tomorrow and I won't have any time to do it then.  I stalled though and didn't get nearly as much done as I wanted to.  I got a surprise delivery shortly after we got back.  Lloyd sent me the most beautiful bouquet of flowers!  I was surprised because I thought getting my tattoo this Friday was my anniversary gift.

Lauryn and I made some of my pizza sauce and when Lloyd came home from work, we had homemade French bread pizza with chips and guacamole for dinner.  I did a little more cleaning, we got the kids into bed and now we're relaxing for the rest of the night.  :)

Anniversary

Tomorrow, Lloyd and I are celebrating our 6th anniversary :)  It still seems like yesterday that we were standing in front our family and friends, saying our vows and promising to love each other forever :)  We're planning on going out to dinner and going bowling.  We also have to stop at the store for some fruits, veggies and face cream.  I know, we're pretty wild and crazy, right?  :)  I am more in love with Lloyd than I ever knew possible.  Not only is he the most amazing husband, he's a wonderful father to our daughter and so much more than I ever dreamed I could have.  I love you, Lloyd!!!

Today marks five years that Lloyd and I have been married!  Marrying him was the smartest thing I've ever done.  I love you Lloyd, you are a wonderful husband, an amazing father and I know that I will be happy for the rest of my life because I have you!

Nine Years Ago Today

Today marks the anniversary of when Lloyd and I became a couple.  I can't believe it's been nine years already!  Time sure does fly by when you're having fun and you're in love!  I still find it a little bit funny that we even started going out!  The very first time I met him, he was sitting in his living room with a cooler of beer at his feet (because the fridge was WAY too far away), wearing a Hawaiian shirt, khaki shorts and a fishing hat (by the way, he doesn't fish).  He was completely smashed and it was in the middle of the afternoon.  I was SO not impressed.  A few days later, friend of mine called me to invite me to a spur-of-the-moment birthday party she was having.  I had a headache so I told her I probably wouldn't be coming (we weren't very close).  About an hour later she called back and told me that none of her friends showed up and she was stuck there with her boyfriend and his friend Lloyd.  I felt bad for her so I went over there.  Not long after I got there, she and her boyfriend disappeared for a while and Lloyd and I just sat on the porch talking.  By the end of the night, I had changed my mind about him and thought he was a really nice guy.  We went on our first date a couple of days later and after that, I knew he was "the one."  Now, we've been together for nine years, have been married for almost five years and have a beautiful baby girl.  Who knew that drunken guy in the Hawaiian shirt was going to be the love of my life :)
