What a nice weekend! We walked down to the fair yesterday and played a few games. I won Lauryn a pretty stuffed snake and a little stuffed fish and she won herself a big blow up mallet that squeaks. They had one of those little duck ponds and I thought it would be fun to let her pick on herself. I put her down by it and she watched the ducks go around for a minute and then SPLASH! She didn't grab a duck but she liked the water :) I helped her pick one and she one the big mallet. We walked around for awhile, then went to Cory's to grab some dinner. After that we came back home and got ready for the fireworks at Shane and Trisha's. I wasn't sure if Lauryn would get scared by the big booms or if she'd even stay awake long enough to watch it but she did and she didn't seem to mind the noise at all. She watched most of them but towards then end she got really snuggly with me...which I totally love since she doesn't do that a lot anymore :)
Today we got up, got ready and went downtown to watch the parade. Lauryn liked the sirens and the firetrucks. It was just over an hour long. There was a veteran sitting just to my right and when the other vets came down, he yelled out across the street, "HATS GENTLEMEN!" because the flags were coming and the guys hadn't taken their hats off. They always have the Miss Belding floats, and the kiddie King and Queen floats but my favorite this year was the King and Queen of the nursing home float :) I thought that was too cute!
Well, the rest of the day will be spent tidying up the house, grilling some burgers and corn on the cob and enjoying the last of our four day weekend together. Happy Labor Day all!
