Weekend In Review

Photobucket

This is a wonderful new meme created by Jodi at:

Friday ~ Lauryn ended up having her check-up on Friday instead of Wednesday.  She only had to get one shot and she even said a tearful thank you (tak-en) when it was over.  Her doctor said she's growing very well, that her height and her weight are right where they should be and that she already has the vocabulary of a two year old!!!  That made her Mama very proud :)  We also went to the ballpark down the road to watch my nephew play baseball.  Just as we got there, he hit an in-field home run!  We only stayed for about an hour because the wind was really chilly and Lauryn's hands were getting cold.

Saturday ~ On Saturday, Lloyd got soil for the garden and got that all down.  I planted my flowers alongside the house, got the parsnip seeds and the melon, pickle and herb plants all in the garden.  Lloyd replaced our crummy back door with a nice screen one and we played outside with Lauryn.  We also did one of my favorite things for dinner...had everything on the grill :)  Corn on the cob, potatoes, chicken breast for me and cheddarwurst for Lloyd.  I love it when there aren't any pots and pans to clean :)

Sunday ~ Sunday started out not so great.  When I was preparing the potatoes for breakfast, I cut a pretty big chunk out of my thumb while using my mandolin slicer.  Totally my fault for not using the guard :(  Lloyd said he was pretty surprised by my reaction.  He was on the porch and I calmly called out, "Hey babe....I cut my finger really bad."  He came in to help, saw the damage and couldn't believe I'd been so calm.  It was a little later that I felt a little shaken by it.  He was so sweet all day!  Not only did he cook breakfast, he helped me take care of my cut all day, he wouldn't let me do the dishes - even though I told him I had gloves I could use, he ran to the store for me and helped with the laundry!  Such a sweet, sweet man.  Other than that, it was a pretty uneventful day.  For dinner we had hamburgers on the grill, chili cheese fries and veggies with dip.

It was so nice to have a weekend with just the three of us.  I treasure those days because that doesn't happen too often and I love it!

  1. Fun weekend! Sorry about your thumb! How do you do your potatoes on the grill?

  2. Thanks Jodi! It's a pretty bad cut so I think it's going to take quite some time to heal but it hasn't been hurting too bad.

For my potatoes on the grill, I cut them in half, put a little butter in the middle, put a slice of onion on that, put the potato back together (sometimes I add a little garlic powder and pepper in the middle), and wrap it in foil. They take a little while to cook but you can tell they are ready when they soften up. I use my tongs/spatula to press on them to feel if they have softened.
