9 Days Later

Lucas is 9 days old now and we've been home for a week.  So far, the adjustment hasn't been as tricky as I thought it might be.  The first few days home were great!  Lloyd, the man who NEVER takes a day off, actually took three days off to be with us.  I was very concerned that Lauryn would feel left out or jealous but Lloyd was amazing with her and kept her very busy.  He was amazing with all of us.  The day we got home, he went to the store and bought a ton of food, keeping in mind that I might not have a ton of time to cook, and got a lot of things Lauryn and I like that are easy to make.  Anything I mentioned that I needed to do, he either jumped right on or already had it done.  I'm thankful he was here and thankful to all of his clients who understood he was going to be unavailable for a couple days.

Lauryn has shown very little jealousy.  I wondered how it would be for her since she's had Mama to herself for three and a half years but she's handled the changes beautifully.  She's been very helpful when it comes to taking care of her little brother.  She was devastated though when I told her she had to wait to help change diapers because of his circumcision.  She had hoped to be able to change diapers right away...crazy girl!

Lucas is amazing.  He's the typical newborn as far as sleeping and eating all the time but he's also very snuggly and he makes the funniest faces and noises.  I can't wait to see how his little personality develops.  We had his first check-up on Tuesday and he's back at his birth weight and the doctor said everything looked great.

I feel like I'm adjusting to everything pretty well too.  Lucas and I have had a couple of very long nights but that's nothing I can't handle.  It's easy to be up all night with such a sweet, snuggly baby.  I've managed to keep the house from falling apart, without overdoing it, and I feel pretty much back to myself.  I am a very happy and blessed woman and feel like our family is now complete.
