Saturday 9

Daddy's Back

Welcome to Saturday: 9.  What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions  every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random  questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants  posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your  choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

If you're not familiar with today's song, you can hear it here.

1) Crazy Sam's dad often traveled for business, and always remembered to bring her the little complimentary soaps or body lotions he got from the hotel. When you travel, do you bring back souvenirs? Send post cards?

I don't travel much but when I do, I try to find unique and fun gifts for my family.
2) When you fly, do you prefer window or aisle? Or doesn't it matter?

I prefer window but it doesn't really matter.
3) According to Askmen.com, Jim Anderson (Robert Young) of Father Knows Best is the best TV dad ever. Who is your favorite TV (or movie) dad?

Michael Bluth from Arrested Development :)
4) Sam's father was the family disciplinarian. What about you? Do you consider yourself a rule maker, a rule follower, or a rule breaker?

All three!  When it comes to my kids, I'm mostly the disciplinarian.  I try to follow the rules that I set but sometimes, you have to break the rules and have fun with the kids :)
5) Sam's father was the one who gave her driving lessons. Think back to your first few times behind the wheel. Were you a naturally good driver?

I think so.

6) This week's featured artist, Kenny Loggins, was born in Washington state. Have you ever lived in, or traveled to, any of our northern border states? (For those of you not as well versed in geography as Crazy Sam, that's AK, WA, MT, ND, MN, WI, MI PA, NY, VT, and ME.)

Nope.
7) As part of the duo Loggins and Messina, Loggins performed the song "House at Pooh Corner." Do you have a favorite character from the Winnie the Pooh books/movies?

I like Piglet :)
8) The mercury is going to start rising. How hot is too hot for you? 85º? 95º? Or are you one of those  "the hotter the better" people?

I can handle it in the 90's.  When the humidity rises though, I'd rather stay in the air conditioning!
9) To celebrate Father's Day, Sam is giving away her father's favorite candy: LifeSavers. Would you prefer a roll of Wild Cherry, or Butter Rum, or Winter Green or Peppermint?

That's a toss up between Butter Rum and Winter Green....I love them both!

Good Ideas

I've been talking to Lauryn about Father's Day and trying to get her opinion on what we can do for Lloyd.  I've been getting some good ideas from Pinterest of things we could make.  I saw an ad on tv that I thought was pretty cool too.  You can send dad gifts from kids with help from Shari's Berries.  That might be more for me and Lauryn though since we both love fruit much more than Lloyd does.  :)

What A Beautiful Day

Today turned out to be so nice!  Lloyd and I smoked his parents in two games of hillbilly golf (I love that game), we had steaks and baked potatoes on the grill and strawberry shortcake for dessert.  And Lauryn went to bed at 9:30 pm without any fussing or anything!  Hooray for fresh air!!! :)

I have so much laundry to catch up on tomorrow.  I wasn't able to do it for a couple of days because of all of the issues in the basement and only had time to do a small load this morning before we left.  I guess if it's going to be as warm in the next few days as they say it is, maybe going to the basement to catch up on it won't be so bad.  It's super cold down there.

I need to get out and weed my garden tomorrow.  I want to do it before it gets out of hand.  Since every thing is in rows, I shouldn't have a problem making sure what I'm picking is actually weeds and not my plants.  Don't laugh, it's happened before and I was totally confused why NONE of my flowers were coming up!

Father's Day

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY LLOYD!

Lauryn ended up giving Lloyd his gift last night...she couldn't wait any longer :) He loved it! It was a coffee mug with her beautiful face on one side and "World's Best Dada! Love, Lauryn" on the other.

The basement is starting to dry up. The guy who came and helped us is so nice. He called Lloyd after he got home and thought he'd charged us too much. If we'd have had to call a company, we'd have spent at least twice as much for them to and do the same amount of work. I thought his price was extremely fair, especially since he drove all the way here from Wyoming!

Going to Lloyd's parents today to celebrate Father's Day and have dinner. We go there every year on this day and grill some yummy food and enjoy the day. I have to get some laundry done because I don't have a clue what I'm going to wear but Lauryn has a new onesie that says, "My heart belongs to Daddy" and some jeans to wear today :)

Saturday *Update*

Well, our plumber friend was here and was able to get the drain unclogged.  The water is gone but everything is VERY wet down there.  We've got fans going trying to dry it as best as we can.  On the upside of things, we're happy we didn't already have the contractors down there to put in the walls because that would have made things a whole lot worse!  Now I can do up my dishes and take a much needed shower.

I can't wait for tomorrow to get here!  Lloyd's first Father's day.  I'm so excited to give him his gift from Lauryn.  I know he's going to love it!  I think we're going to have his parents come here instead of us going there for the day.  Either way though, I just can't wait!
