Happy New Year

2013 is behind us and 2014 is here!  There are two things I try to do for my resolutions every year and I never get very far with either of them.  This year, I feel like I'm FINALLY getting control of one of them so I'm making my New Years Resolution the other one:  to get healthy and lose weight.  No more excuses!  I am getting back on MyFitness Pal, because I found that extremely helpful in the past, I'm getting back on the elliptical, and I'm cutting out all of the crap I've been eating.

I learned a lot in 2013.  I learned that it's easy for some people to completely give up on the ones their supposed to love and  I learned that when I'm hurt, I have a really hard time letting it go.  I learned that family, real family, will ALWAYS be there.  I know that being connected by blood doesn't mean family.  Being there for each other, loving each other, and not hurting each other is what family is.  I also learned a lot of positive things.  I know that in a crisis, my husband and I make a strong team.  We can get through anything because we have each other.  I learned who my real, true friends are.  I know who will stick by me and support me, and I'm fortunate to have such awesome girls on my side.  I learned that you're never too old to make new friends.  There are some awesome girls who have recently come into my life and I love getting to know them.  I think we're going to be friends for life.  There are a lot of things I learned about myself this year.  Some things to be proud of and some that need work.  So that's what I'll be doing from now on.  Working on becoming a better person and becoming the best wife, mother, daughter, and friend I can be.  I have an awesome little family and there's too much good here to let the negative affect us.  So here's to 2014!

A Warmer New Year?

I heard on the news earlier that it could get up to 47 degrees by the end of the week!  That's Michigan for ya!  I wouldn't mind a warmer New Years one bit! 

I am very much enjoying my new netbook!  I'm still adjusting to the smaller keyboard but other than that, I've gotten pretty used to it.  Other than having a nasty headache on Christmas day, the  holidays weren't too bad :)  For New Year's Eve, Lloyd usually goes to his parents for their annual euchre tournaments while my mom, Lauryn and I will be ringing in the new year here.  We usually just make a few snacks and have some punch, watch the ball drop and hang out.  We're going to rent a few movies that we've been wanting to watch.  I've never been big on partying and waking up the first day of the new year feeling awful.  I like the way we do it :)

I was looking at phones recently and can't believe how many things you can do on the iphones now.  The apps that are available these days are something else.  They aren't kidding when they say, "There's an app for that!"  :)  There seems to be an app for everything!

I am really looking forward to this evening.  No big partying plans or anything but Lauryn and I are going to my mom's place to watch the fireworks then we're all coming back here to snack, have some yummy punch and watch the ball drop.  Lloyd is going to his parents for their annual euchre tournament.  I will miss him but I can't even think of the last time we've spent New Year's eve together.  I always get together with my mom because I don't want her spending it alone.  I think Lauryn will like the fireworks :)  I hope everyone has a safe and Happy New Year!!!!

My Poor Girl

Lauryn isn't feeling well again.  We were up most of the night and there just wasn't anything I could do to make her feel better.  That's one of the worst feelings ever!  It's bad enough she feels yucky in the first place but to not being able to do anything to make it better makes me feel helpless.  She didn't want to sleep in her own bed, she didn't want to snuggle with me on the couch (which usually does the trick), she didn't want anything.  When she got up this morning she was really happy and running around but about an hour or so later she was fussy and had a runny nose.  She's napping now and I hope she gets a good one.  I was really surprised she didn't sleep later this morning because of her long night last night.  I hope she feels better soon!  My poor girl!

My mom is coming over today and she's bringing lunch :)  She's just grabbing some burgers on her way over and that's a nice treat.  Tomorrow she and I are going shopping then she's staying for dinner.  I'm making that crock pot lasagna, salad and garlic bread.  My aunt will be coming over in the evening for a visit too!  I can't wait to see her!  We live so close but don't see each other as often as either of us would like.  I know she's really missing Lauryn.

I can't wait until New Years Eve.  I think Lauryn will like the fireworks and for years now, my mom and I have watched the ball drop together.  We aren't big partyers anymore :) It's just fun to get together.  We might have to eat some more of those rum balls too!  YUM!
