The Sickies

I'm not a fan of winter at all and this year, I hate it more than ever.  Me and the kids have been sick, pretty much non-stop, since September.  I hate seeing my kids feeling so miserable.  At least Lauryn is old enough to tell me how she's feeling.  With Lucas it's a little bit of a guessing game.  We take vitamins, wash our hands, Lysol the crap out of everything and it hasn't really made a difference.  BRING ON SPRING already!

On The Mend

I'm keeping Lauryn home from school again today.  I think she's finally getting over the fever though.  When she got up from her very long nap yesterday, it was up again and then starting to go back down by the time she went  to bed.  I checked a few minutes ago and it's at 100.5.  She seems to understand a little better why it's important to stay home from school when your sick.  The first time, she got quite upset about it and it broke my heart.  This morning when she asked if she was going to go to school today and I had to tell her that she needed to stay home but maybe she could go tomorrow, she said, "Ok.  Sometimes my friends at school have to stay home when they're sick too."  Today will be a major cleaning/disinfecting day.  Luckily, Lucas hasn't gotten a fever.  Just a little cough with a little bit of a runny nose.  Keeping Lauryn from him and getting right in his face has been hard!  She just loves her baby brother and she gets a little sad when I tell her she can't give him kisses.  That's heartbreaking too!  Hopefully we're getting back on the right track, getting us all healthy, and she'll be able to love up to him again soon!

What Happened To The Nice Day?

Just a little bit ago, the sun was shining and the day looked like it was going to be great.  Now, it's raining with thunder and we're under a tornado watch.  Poor Lloyd left to go mow my moms lawn a little bit ago.  Hopefully he's almost done and won't get drenched! 

We were supposed to go to our friends house this afternoon and I was really looking forward to it but I woke up with a nasty sore throat and a headache.  I felt awful for cancelling because I was really looking forward to hanging out with them but if I'm coming down with something, it's better to stay home and not to pass it on to them!

I got a new journal for baby #2 :)  I've kept a journal for Lauryn since I found out I was pregnant for her and I'm going to to the same for our second baby.  It took me a little while in the stationery aisle before I finally decided on one.  I hope that someday, when my kids are older and get to read these journals, they'll know how much they are loved and how excited Lloyd and are to be their parents!

Is That The Sun???

I think Michigan is confused.  Yesterday (and the night before) we had snow, ice, rain and thunderstorms.  Today, most things are still iced over, it's still really cold but the sun has been out and shining all day!  We had a little spring teaser last week and it was so nice!  It was great to get out and go on walks with the family, to feel the sun and a warm breeze :)  I can't wait for it to stay that way!

Well I got all my "Thursday cleaning" done.  Cleaned out and wiped out the fridge, changed the kitty litter, swept, mopped, dusted, washed windows, vacuumed and gathered the garbage to go out. 

Lauryn took an incredibly long nap today.  I was happy about it because I got so much done while she was sleeping but shortly after she got up, I realized she was really warm.  I took her temperature and found she had a fever of 102.1.  I gave her some tylenol and we cuddled on the couch for a bit.  After about a half an hour, she got a burst of energy.  She was running around and hollaring.  But as it got closer to bed time, she wound down again.  I checked her temperature again and it had gone down to 100.2.  I gave her another dose of tylenol and when Lloyd put her to bed she said her head hurt.  I hope she sleeps good tonight and feels better in the morning.  I never feel more helpless as I do when my girl is sick :(

Sick

Lauryn and have come down with nasty colds.  YUCK!  I was pretty worried about her yesterday.  When she woke up, she was really hot so I took her temperature and it was 103 degrees!  I gave her some Tylenol and by the time we got to her doctor it was already going down...thank goodness!  They said it was probably just a virus and we'd have to ride it out.  After her long nap yesterday, she was very active.  She had a little cough and a runny nose but the fever kept going down.  Today she seems a whole lot better.  No runny nose, no fever and just a little cough.  Me on the other hand, I feel like I've been hit by a truck! :(

I really need to find out where my cholesterol is at.  A while back, we had blood taken for our insurance and when the results came back they told Lloyd that my cholesterol was high.  At my next appointment I want to find out exactly what that means and what the best cholesterol treatments are. That's something I really need to stay on top of!

This Darn Cold

So here it is, just after 1 am and I am wide awake.  Hopefully I'm not up as late as last night...being awake until 4 am when you have a little girl who gets up early is just not acceptable!  I try to get to sleep but this cough is making it impossible and the medicine doesn't seem to make much of a difference.  I better kick this cold soon!

So far, I don't have any major plans for the day.  Just the usual laundry, cleaning out the fridge, getting all the garbage ready to go out, dishes, figuring out dinner....exciting, huh?  :)
