Ready For Bed

This has been a pretty nice day.  The weather was weird...rainy then sunny then cold and windy, but I didn't have anywhere to go so I didn't really mind.  It was nice to have the windows open, getting tons of fresh air in here most of the day.

Mom came over for our Friday dinner.  I threw a roast, potatoes and carrots in the crock pot this morning and finished making the ciabatta bread this afternoon.  I'll be looking for another recipe for that.  It came out tasting okay  but it didn't set up the way it was supposed to and came out a little odd looking :)  I won't be posting that recipe!  Kathye came over just as we were about to eat so she joined us.  It's been almost a month since she was last here.  She's been very busy with work and odd jobs and I'm glad she stopped by because I was missing her!

Mom brought Lauryn some new books today.  That makes me very happy because I read to her every night before she goes to bed and I've been getting a little tired of the same five books over and over.  The new stories were a nice change of pace.

I'm hoping my baby girl sleeps well tonight.  We were up quite a bit last night and I know we are both needing to catch up.

Better Than I Thought It Was Going To Be

We lost power first thing this morning.  It was kind of strange because it wasn't storming or anything.  I thought it was going to make for a not so great day because no power equals no coffee maker....AAAAAHHHH!  How on earth am I supposed to function without coffee??  We don't have any instant coffee because I used that up a while ago making homemade kahlua :P  Thankfully, it was only out for about 45 minutes or so.

It's funny  how the little things make you happy.  Last night, after Lauryn went to sleep, I gave myself a pedicure.  Every time I look down at my feet it makes me smile because my toes look nice :)

I think I'm going to throw some steaks, potatoes, corn on the cob and ciabatta bread on the grill tonight.  In my opinion that's the perfect meal because the only dishes afterward are plates and silverware, no pots and pans :)  Gotta love that!

Stuffed

On Sundays, I usually try to make a nice big dinner for us but this past Sunday, I was still really tired from the wedding/reception the night before that I ended up just reheated some leftovers.  Well, I think I made up for it tonight.  We had bbq grilled chicken breasts, corn on the cob on the grill, linguine oil and garlic and ciabatta bread drizzled with extra virgin olive oil, grilled and rubbed with a clove of garlic.  YUMMY!  Rubbing the bread with garlic is my new favorite way of making garlic bread.  It's so easy and so tasty!  I am still stuffed!

Lauryn was a tad fussier than usual today.  My poor girl :(  I wish her teeth would just come in already.  This is how it went with the first two though so I should have expected it to go this way when more started coming in.  It wouldn't be so bad if it didn't take them so long to break through.  Once they've actually started to come through she seems to be a lot happier but until they do, she seems so miserable.

Between yesterday and today I got most of the laundry done.  I still have  a load of whites to put in but it's not much of a load at all so I didn't bother with it today.

I'm making more progress on that blanket.  I so wish I wouldn't have forgotten about it before so I wouldn't have to crochet until my fingers fall every night!  It's turning out really cute though.  I'll have to post a picture of it when I'm done.

A New Woman

Okay, maybe not a new woman but a woman with pretty blond highlights and healthier looking hair :)  Thank you very much Wendy!  Lauryn seemed to have a good time hanging out with Kristin, Ross, Nikki and Willow while I was getting my hair done.  I love that she has a baby her age to play with and we need to get them together more...which means I get to hang out with Kristin, Nikki and Wendy more too :)

We had steaks, red potatoes, ciabatta bread on the grill tonight and a salad on the side.  I've become a huge fan of drizzling the bread with extra virgin olive oil, grilling it and then rubbing it with a cut clove of garlic.  It is so tasty!

Jo, my old coworker is coming over to visit and meet Lauryn on Tuesday and Cary, my very dear friend is coming over to visit on Wednesday.  This is going to be a great week!  I have some cleaning to do tomorrow though!  We also have another wedding to go to on Saturday but this one is just outside of town so there won't be a two-ish hour drive like last time.  I'm getting better at leaving Lauryn to go have some grown up time and I think it's really good for her too!  She probably gets sick of being with Mama all day, every day :P

Well, I should really get my butt to bed...G'night to everyone and pleasant dreams! :)
