Yes, I was one of those people who couldn't wait for winter to be over and the snow to be gone. I am also one of those people who does not like hot, humid days. Lauryn and I were out a little bit ago running errands and it is HOT! I'm glad we got everything done early! Now all I have to do is some light cleaning, in the comfort of my nicely cooled home. :) I do think it's time to get Lauryn's pool out of the garage and get it blown up and filled for her. She'll love splashing around, staying cool and it will keep her busy while I weed the garden.
While we were out and about, I saw a woman on the side of the road with a flat tire. There was someone helping her so we didn't stop but it made me very appreciative that we have emergency road service, just in case something like that were to happen to us. With Lloyd working in Grand Rapids and almost all of my friends and family working during the day, it just offers some peace of mind!

Saturday 9

Saturday 9: Heatwave
1. It’s July. How has the weather been where you are?
It's been colder than usual.
2. What is the best way for you to beat the heat?
Air conditioning :)
3. “It’s not the heat, it’s the humidity.” Do you buy that?
I do. If it's a really warm day but there isn't humidity, it doesn't feel so bad. But if the humidity is high, it feels miserable.
4. Do you like hot tubs or saunas?
I love hot tubs in the winter. I've been in a sauna a couple of times and it's not really my thing.
5. What’s the hottest you’ve ever been?
Probably when I worked at the restaurant. Going in to that hot kitchen on a hot day was not fun.
6. How many times do you hit the beach in the summer?
It's been years since I've been to the beach. I think about 4 1/2 years ago, on my honeymoon was the last time.
7. When you were a kid, what did you do in the summer?
Ride bikes, walk the train tracks (which they're tearing up right now), swim in the river or at Long Lake.
8. Surfing. Have you ever gotten on a surfboard? Body surf?
Nope, neither.
9. What’s your favorite summer song?
There are lots of good summer songs but the one that always sticks out it "Summer Time Blues."

It's A Warm One
I'm glad it hasn't gotten too hot in this house today. It's pretty hot outside and when Lauryn gets hot, she gets very cranky! Not to mention she has a second tooth that's just starting to pop up and that doesn't make her a very happy baby either. Lloyd mentioned looking at an air conditioner on his way home tonight. I hope it's what he was looking for and he gets it! It's supposed to be around 90 degrees on Wednesday so we could sure use it!
Tonight I'm making grilled bbq chicken breast, salad and guacamole for dinner. I really didn't want to turn on the oven or use the stove so those things sounded pretty good.
Guacamole:
2 ripe avocados, pitted and diced
3 Tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped
1/4 c. onion (more or less depending on your preference), diced
1 Tbsp sour cream
1 Tbsp minced garlic
1 Tbsp lime juice
Dash of black pepper
*Most guacamole recipes have tomatoes but neither of us like them so I don't use them.*
Mash ingredients together with a potato masher and serve with chips.
