Potty Training Frustrations

Who knew potty training could be so darn frustrating? I don't believe in forcing it, because I think that truly would just make matters worse, but I have been encouraging as much as I can and Lauryn just doesn't seem interested at all. She likes wearing big girl underwear, she likes to sit on her potty but she has no interest in actually using it. We bought the potty about a year ago and she has used it a few times but I think it was more accidental than intentional. I just bought her some big girl underwear that has a little extra "padding" to help keep accidents from being a mess all over. So far, I'm not impressed. I'm trying to stay patient and not let Lauryn see my frustration but it's hard. I know we'll get there but I guess I was expecting it to go easier.

I was talking to my cousin this weekend and he mentioned taking tests online. I think it's great that colleges offer classes online and there are online universities now. I know a lot of stay at home moms who have been able to work toward degrees and still have plenty of time to take care of the children and their homes.

Busy Little Girls

We have Willow here today and it's so much fun watching these girls interact.  They talk up a storm, they run around and chase each other and you can't help but laugh when they get to giggling.  They also wear me out! :)  We've played hide and seek, we've colored, they've been on the potty a half a dozen times (without success) and we've played with baby dolls.  They're down for a nap right now, so the house is a whole lot quiter!

I'm getting so close to finishing my netbook bag.  I need to sew the felt in, sew the buttons on, sew up the sides and attach the handle.  If I have enough yarn when I'm done, I'm going to whip up a pocket for the back of it.  I'm getting so excited and can't wait to see it when it's done.  I get pretty proud of projects when they are my own and not someone else's pattern :)

Lloyd and I have been talking about weight loss quite a bit lately.  We both want to lose some weight and get into better shape.  We've been talking about P90x, m drol, actually using our elliptical machine, etc.  We need to stop talking about it and start doing it!  A friend of ours posted before and after pictures after using P90x and the results are amazing!  We both just want to be healthier people so we can set a good example for Lauryn....and have more energy to keep up with her!

She Did It!

I know I've mentioned before that we were going to go ahead and get Lauryn her own potty so she could at least get used to the idea of it.  Well, I've been taking her in to the bathroom with me, having her sit on it and telling her about it.  She's been doing fine with all of that but she hadn't actually gone potty....until yesterday morning :)  We were all sitting on the couch watching the news and I asked her if she would sit with Dada for a minute so Mama could go potty.  She got all excited and said, "Potty, potty!" and ran to the bathroom door.  So I took her in there with me and got her all set on it and sure enough, she went potty!  I was floored!  The funniest things was that when there's "potty" happening, the little toilet sings a song.  She was dancing to the music while she was going!  Too funny!  I know we're just at the beginning of potty training but it sure made for an exciting morning!  I know, I am so a mommy...using the potty makes for an exciting morning :P

I recently saw an ad for this credit card machine where you can get them and use them anywhere.  I'm sure these have been around for a while, besides in stores and restaurants, etc., but when I saw the ad I thought how funny it would be to have one and use it at home.  For instance, when we have a garage sale, I could tell people we accept Visa and Mastercard :)  Silly, I know.  It's just what came to mind when I saw the credit card processing ad.

Potty Training

So yesterday, we got Lauryn her new potty.  It's pretty cute!  It does have a few bells and whistles but the main reason I chose the one we got was because you can take the seat off and attach it to the regular toilet to help make the transition a little easier.  What cracks me up about it is not only does it have a place for her own roll of toilet paper but it will sing to her when she does go potty in it!  Too funny!  This morning, she was still dry when we got her up so I thought it might be a good time to try to get her to sit on it...not such a good idea.  She didn't want anything to do with that at all!  Later, I took her in the bathroom with me and just let her really check it out and she did sit on it for a minute, with all her clothes on, and I realized that's probably how we're going to have to do it for a while.  Just let her get used to it and take it from there.

The weather lately has been such a tease! I've given up on trying to find quick weight loss diets but I have been trying to get out on more walks with Lauryn lately. This weather is really messing that up! One day it will be 80 degrees out and just beautiful and days like yesterday and today are cold, windy and in the 50's! Come on Michigan, get it together!
